There are 5 Pillars of Islam:

1. Recite kelime-i-shehadet,

  • What is Islam and recite kelimei-shehadet and say what does kelimei-shehadet mean?

Islam is a faith that Allah has sent down through His Messenger, Muhammad,s.a.w.s., to all mankind. Kalimai-shahada is pronounced as follow:

Ešhedu en laa ilaahe illellaah, ve ešhedu enne Muhammeden abduhuu ve resuuluhuu. 

Which mean:

I bare witness that Allah is the only God, and that Muhammad,s.a.w.s., is His servant and messenger. 

  • When and where was born Muhammad,s.a.w.s., and what was the name of Muhammad’s,s.a.w.s., parents?

Muhammad saws was born in Mekkah on 12. Rabial awwal / 20. April 571.

His father’s name was Abdullah and his mother’s name was Amina.

  • Pronounce “At-Tahiyyatu”?

ET-TEḢIJJĀTU  LILLĀHI  WEṢ-ṢALEWĀTU WEṬ-ṬAJJIBĀTU,

  • What are the conditions for prayer to be accepted?

The conditions are:

1. Clean body, clean clothing and a place of prayer, 

2. To take abdest, if necessary bathe or in an emergency take teyemmum, 

3. To be properly dressed, 

4. To pray on time, 

5. To face the kibla,

6. To make niyyat (intention)

  1. How do we achieve cleanliness of our body?

The cleanliness of the body we maintain by:

  • personal hygiene
  • frequent hand washing
  • teeth brushing
  • taking ablution ( wudu’)
  • regular taking shower ( gusul )
  • hygiene after using bathroom
  • regular nail cutting.
  • How do you make abdest (wudu), and what are fard (obligatory) actions of wudu?

First, we recite e’uzubilla and bismilla, and then make intention (niyyat): 

NEVEJTU EN ETEVEDDA’E LI EDŽLIS-SALAATI VE LI REF’IL-HADESI, TEKARRUBEN ILELLAAHI TE’AALAA.

  • Then we wash our hands with clean water, 3 x,
  • Rinse our mouth and throat with our right hand, 3 x,
  • We wash our nose, 3 x,
  • Wash the whole face from the hairline to under the chin, and from   ear to ear 3 x,
  • Wash our right hand first and then the left hand to above the elbows 3 x,
  • We wipe at least a quarter of our head with a wet hand (mes’h) 1 x,
  • With wet hands, wipe our ears and neck 1 x,
  • Wash our right and then left foot to above the ankles, 3 x.

Abdests’ farzs are:

1. Wash your face 1 x,

2. wash first right and left arm to above elbows 1 x,

3. wipe with wet hand at least a quarter of the head – mes’h 1 x,

4. wash your feet to above the ankles 1 x.

  1. What breaks the abdest?

Abdest will be broken:

  • if answering the call of nature is met (urinating, defecating, passing gas),
  • if blood, manure or blood-like liquid flows from the body,
  • if we throw up,
  • if we fall asleep,
  • if we pass out, 
  • if we laugh out loud while praying
  1. What are the conditions for Ghusul?

Ghusul is a mandatory religious bathing prescribed to the mature and adult Muslim man and

women when they are unclean – junub.

There are 3:

  • Wash your mouth and throat (gargare),
  • wash your nose (istinshak),
  • wash the whole body, so that it does not stay dry anywhere (gasli wujuud).
  1. What is the timeframe for five daily prayers, and when is not allowed to pray?
  2. Fajr prayer start from down until sunrise,
  3. Dhuhr prayer start when sun passes middle of the sky until Asr prayer,
  4. Asr prayer starts when sun narrow to west until sunset,
  5. Maghrib prayer starts after sunset until ‘Isha,
  6. ‘Isha prayer starts when its dark night until dawn.

Makruh is to pray in time of sunrise, when sun is at the middle of the sky and when it is sunset.

  1. What is adhan, and what should we do while adhan is being called?

Adhan is announcement for beginning of prayer time and call for prayer in jama’at. Adhan is pronounced by muadhdhin. When adhan is calling, we stop our work and talk, we listen adhan and follow it after muadhdhin silently.

  1. Pronounce iqamah?

We recite ikamet before offering farz prayer. We recite the following:

  • 4x  Allaahu ekber
  • 2x  Ešhedu en laa ilaahe illellaah
  • 2x  Ešhedu enne Muhammeder-resuulullaah
  • 2x  Hajje ales-salaah
  • 2x  Hajje alel-felaah
  • 2x  Kad kaametis-salaah
  • 2x  Allaahu ekber
  • 1x  Laa ilaahe illallaah.

  1. How many pillars of Iman are there and what are they?

There are 6 pillars of Iman:

1. Amentu billahi – I believe in Allah, j.sh.,

2. Ve melaa-iketihi – And in God’s angels,

3. Ve kutubihi – And in God’s books,

4. We rusulihi— and in God’s Messengers,

5. Vel-jevmil-ahiri— And in Judgment Day,

6. Ve bil-kaderi, hajrihi ve šerrihi minallahi teala— And I believe in God’s will, whether it be good or bad.

  1. Name blessed days in hijri calendar?

Blessed days in Hijri calendar are:

  • New hijri year, Muharram 1st
  • Mawlid (birth of Prophet Muhammad, s.a.w.s.,) Rabia al-Awwal 12th
  • Eid al-Fitr, 1st, 2nd and 3rd of Shawwal
  • Eid al-Adha, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Dhul-Hijjah
  • Fajr prayer, how many raka’ats and how we perform it (with niyyah)?

Fajr prayer has four raka’ats, two of sunnah and two of fard.

Niyyah for sunnah:

  • Maghrib prayer, how many raka’ats and how do we perform it (with niyyah)?

Maghrib prayer has five raka’ats, three of fard and two of sunnah. Fard are performed first, then sunnah. Men perform iqamah before fard if they pray individualy.

Islamic manners during eating and drinking are:

  • Eath healthy and halal food,
  • Wash hands before and after eating,
  • Say Audha and Bismillah before eating and drinking,
  • Eat and drink with right hand,
  • Eat together with household members,
  • Do not eat hot food and do not fan into a food,
  • Say Alhamdulillah after eating and drinking,
  • Clean up table after we are done eating,
  • Brush our teeth after eating.
  • How do we congradulate Eid to our parents?

We congradulate Eid to our parents by kissing right hand and giving them the present. They give us present as well (bayramluk – money).
